These Terms of Service govern your use of Querent, operated by AA & X Family Brands ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using Querent, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Querent is an AI-powered knowledge base platform that allows users to upload documents and query them using artificial intelligence. The Service is currently in early access.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Querent. By using the Service, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@querentapp.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
You retain full ownership of all documents and content you upload to Querent. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it solely for the purpose of providing the Service. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it to train AI models.
Querent uses two third-party AI services to power its features. Anthropic's Claude API processes your queries and generates answers from your documents, and every passage it is given is labeled with the name of the document it came from, together with the first name on your account and the most recent turns of the conversation you are in; at upload it also processes a short excerpt of each document to generate tags and a summary, reads photos and scanned pages in full to extract their text, and, when you request folder suggestions, a study set, or a report, processes the relevant document names, tags, summaries, and passages from the documents you selected, plus the names of your existing folders when it is suggesting an organization. Voyage AI generates semantic embeddings of your document content, of each question you ask, and of the optional focus text you give a study set (sent once per selected document), to enable intelligent search. Neither service uses your content to train AI models: Anthropic does not use API data for training, and Querent has opted out of Voyage AI's data-training program; each provider's retention of processed content is governed by its own data retention policy. When you submit a question or upload a document, relevant content is sent to these services for processing. By using Querent, you acknowledge and consent to this processing. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy. Voyage AI's privacy policy is available at voyageai.com. We encourage you to review both.
Your documents and associated data are retained until you explicitly delete them, with one exception: an account that confirms its email but never starts a trial is deleted, with its documents, after 60 days without a sign-in, and we email you a week before that happens. You may delete individual documents at any time through the Querent interface. You may also download all data we hold about you via the profile page. Upon account deletion, your data is deleted from our live systems immediately. Deleted data then ages out of our encrypted rolling backups within 7 days, and out of any encrypted offline snapshots we keep for disaster recovery within about 60 days, as described in the Privacy Policy's Data Retention section. Backups and snapshots are only ever used to restore the service, never to resurrect deleted content.
Querent offers a 7-day free trial to new accounts. A valid payment method, processed through our payment processor Stripe, is required to start the trial. Where a preview is offered before the trial, as described on the pricing page (a fixed number of uploads and questions that does not refill), no payment method is needed for it. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged $10 for your first month, and $10/month thereafter until you cancel. You may cancel at any time through your account page; canceling keeps your access through the remainder of your current billing period. Payments are non-refundable: because cancellation never shortens the period you have already paid for, partial-month or prorated refunds are not provided. Billing errors (such as a duplicate charge) are corrected; contact support@querentapp.com. If a payment fails, we will automatically retry it over the following days before treating the subscription as ended. Following a cancellation taking effect or a payment ultimately failing, your account is retained and then removed under the same terms described in Data Retention above.
You agree not to: upload content you do not have the right to share; use the Service for any illegal purpose; attempt to circumvent security measures; upload malicious files or content including pornographic or sexually explicit material; share your account credentials with others; or use the Service to process documents containing third-party personal data without appropriate consent.
We provide Querent on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with or without notice.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AA & X Family Brands shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Querent, including loss of data, unauthorized access to your documents, or service interruptions.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Georgia.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, the effective date at the top of this page changes and the change is listed underneath it. We do not send email about changes to these Terms, so if a change would matter to you, this page is the place to check. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
