We name our AI providers: Anthropic’s Claude answers your questions and Voyage AI powers search. Questions send only the relevant passages, uploads send a short excerpt for tags and summaries (scans and photos are read in full to extract their text), and neither provider trains on any of it.

A word on judgment: We handle the technical side with encryption and strict access controls. Questions people ask first

Is my data used to train AI?
No. Your documents are never used to train any AI model, not by us and not by our providers. Anthropic does not train on API data, and we have explicitly opted out of Voyage AI’s training program. Questions send only the relevant passages; uploads send a short excerpt for tags and summaries, and scans or photos are read in full to extract their text. None of it is used for training.
How do I know an answer is right?
Every answer cites its sources. Claims carry small numbered markers, and clicking one shows the exact stored passage it came from, with the document name and where it sits in the document. You verify against the source instead of taking the AI’s word for it.
What happens when I delete something?
Deleting a document removes its encrypted text right away, and every passage it lent to a saved answer is redacted; the answers themselves stay in your conversation history until you delete that conversation, because they are yours. Deleting your account erases documents, conversations, logs, and billing records immediately. Encrypted database backups age out on a 7-day cycle, so deleted data leaves the hosted backups within a week. Any encrypted offline snapshots, kept against the loss of the hosting account itself, can hold it for up to about 60 days. Your original files were never stored in the first place.
Do you keep my original files?
No. Querent reads each file once, converts it into encrypted, searchable text, and discards the original. That is a deliberate privacy design: a copy that does not exist cannot leak.
What file types work?
PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CSV, email files, images (including HEIC photos and scanned documents), ebooks, HTML, Markdown, RTF, and plain text, up to 50MB each (presentations up to 250MB). Scanned or photographed documents are read with AI vision.
How does the free trial work?
Before the trial, every new account gets a free preview with no card: 5 uploads and 15 questions, enough to see it work on your own documents. The trial itself is every feature, free for 7 days: you add a payment method to start it, we send a reminder before it ends, and if you cancel before then you are never charged. After that it is $10 a month, cancel anytime.
Can I get documents in without the website?
Yes, three ways: pick files straight from Google Drive (Docs, Sheets and Slides arrive as Word, Excel and PowerPoint), forward documents from your phone or scanner to the private email address every account gets, or save web pages with the Querent Web Clipper from your browser.
